The set of 12 Indian feathers consists of twelve individual feathers in white, yellow, orange, red, green and dark blue, each with a shaft in the same colour.
They immediately evoke the image of the Native American from Western films and stories about the prairie, where feathers in the hair are the first recognisable feature. Men and women stick them in their headband, hair or costume during Carnival or at a Western party and choose which colours to combine.
Colours and material of the Indian feathers
- You get twelve feathers, packaged in a bag with a cardboard top.
- The colours are white, yellow, orange, red, green and dark blue.
- Each feather has a narrow, pointed shape with a thin shaft that you stick behind a band or in your hair.
- The material is 100% feathers.
- The set contains only the feathers, so a headband, wig or necklace is not included.
Why does a Native American wear feathers in his headband?
Feathers in the headband are the most famous feature of the Native American in the world of costumes, even more so than fringes or painted cheeks. In Western films and comic books, this varies from a single feather to a full headdress that falls down to the back. With individual Indian feathers, you decide where you fall in between: two or three feathers give a simple warrior look, a fan of six colours makes the whole thing more festive. Choose individual feathers if you want to supplement an existing headband or costume instead of taking a ready-made headdress.
Indian feathers during the parade or at a Western party
For the Carnival parade, you stick the feathers upright behind a tight headband, so that they stick out above your head. Combine dark blue, green and yellow for a tough men's look, or red, orange, yellow and white for a warmer women's version. At a Western party, you stick one Indian feather in a braid or behind your ear for a more relaxed look. Keep the other feathers separate, then you can change colour halfway through the evening.
