Flag Greece

The Greek flag is a blue-and-white national flag measuring 90 by 150 cm, with nine horizontal stripes and a white cross on a blue field. The cross is located in the upper left corner, and the stripes alternate between blue and white until the bottom stripe is blue again. Use it as a supporter’s flag during the European Championship or World Cup, or as a decoration for a Greek party or a Greek-themed evening at home.

Stripes, cross and dimensions at a glance

• The flag measures 90 by 150 cm, a common size for a national flag.
• The design consists of nine horizontal stripes of equal width: five blue and four white.
• In the upper left corner, a white cross is set on a blue square as high as the top five stripes.
• The colours are bright blue and white, with no additional print or text.
• You will receive one loose flag from the brand Funny Fashion.

Why does the Greek flag have nine stripes and a cross?

The nine stripes are often associated in Greece with the nine syllables of the ancient battle cry “Freedom or death,” while the white cross represents the Greek Orthodox Church. It is precisely this combination that makes the Greek flag instantly recognisable. Other blue-and-white flags usually feature only stripes or only a cross, while this flag has both. Choose it if you want everyone in the room to immediately see which country you are celebrating.

How to create a recognisable Greek evening or supporter’s party

The Greek flag works best as a backdrop for a Greek party, for example above the buffet or behind the table with the meze. Repeat the blue and white theme in the rest of the decorations with white tableware, blue napkins or other Greek accessories, so that the flag does not look out of place in the room. During a European Championship or World Cup match, hang it in front of the window or over the sofa, so that the living room immediately feels like a supporter’s stand.

Order the Greek flag and give your Greek evening or football party the colours everyone recognises.
