Flag Sweden

Why is the cross not in the centre of the Swedish flag?

The cross on the Swedish flag is a Scandinavian cross, a design in which the intersection is shifted towards the hoist side instead of being in the centre. You can also see the same design on the flags of Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland, but each country has its own colour combination. Sweden's blue and yellow are also featured in the Swedish coat of arms, with three golden crowns on a blue shield. So, when you see a blue flag with a yellow cross, you are always looking at Sweden.

How to hang the Swedish flag during a football evening or country party

For a match, hang the flag horizontally behind the TV with the long side, so that it is visible for every goal. At a country party, assign each table its own country, and then decorate the Swedish table in the same blue and yellow shades as the flag. When hanging it, make sure the shorter part of the cross is on the hoist side or to the left, otherwise the flag will be hung backwards.
