Pieten face paint is water-based makeup with which you can paint your face, neck, or hands in the colors of a Piet. The range belongs to the Pieten costumes, where the clothing is the foundation and this makeup completes the look. Women, men, and children can all use it together, as the same pots and tubes work on every skin tone.

Pot, tube, or palette: which Piet face paint is right for your occasion?

  • For the street parade, grab a round pot of black face paint with a metal rim, which provides full coverage with just a thin layer.
  • If you need to touch up a whole group, the 30-gram tube of black aqua face paint is more convenient, as it can be used to paint many faces.
  • For an afternoon with children who want to choose for themselves, there is a palette with twelve basic skin-tone colors, suitable for fairy tale and animal themes.
  • If you want to let a girl play completely on her own, the makeup set includes a book of examples, and the set is skin-friendly and easy to wash off.
  • During carnival, you can simply keep using the same black makeup, as it is not limited to Sinterklaas.

Choosing and applying: a thin layer or a second color

Choose based on how you like to apply makeup: a pot is convenient if you want to wipe and blend with a sponge, while a tube is ideal for quickly dispensing a large amount. The black face paint is deep black and, according to the supplier, provides full coverage, so you only need a thin layer for an even finish. If you want to layer two shades, the same full-coverage face paint is available in a wide range of colors, allowing you to combine black with another color. Since it is water-based makeup, you can remove it with water, and the packaging of the black face paint states that it is easy to apply and remove. Apply it with a sponge or brush and use it on your neck, arms, or hands as well, not just your face.

What the hat and collar add to your painted face

A painted face only truly comes into its own once the headwear is on. A Pieten hat defines the line above your forehead, keeping the makeup neatly within the face. Under your chin, a Pieten collar does the same job and keeps your clothing free from smudged makeup.

Piet face paint for the parade and Sinterklaas evening

This makeup is mainly used in the weeks around the parade and on Sinterklaas evening, at home or in a hall. Women and men who walk in the parade as a Piet often use a sweeping motion, while children prefer to choose a color from the palette. During carnival, the same pot can be used again.

Get your Piet face paint quickly

If you are still unsure, consider how many faces you need to paint: one Piet can be done with a pot, while a whole group will be ready faster with the tube. For over 15 years, e-Carnavalskleding.nl has been the go-to address for party supplies.
