Set Majesty

The Majesteit set is a two-piece king costume with a 140 cm burgundy cape including a collar and a matching crown hat. The stand-up white collar with black dots imitates ermine, the classic image of a monarch. Men wear this set during Carnival, on King’s Day, or at a medieval-themed party.

• The cape is burgundy with a white border with black dots along the front panels and the collar.
• The cape measures 140 cm including the collar and therefore falls to approximately knee height.

The king as a costume

The image of a king relies on three things: a long red cape, the white ermine border, and something on the head. This combination comes from the coronation attire of European monarchs and is therefore recognized without explanation. In a Carnival parade, this image works well because the cape is clearly visible from the side. On King’s Day, the set is suitable for a street party or a drink with a royal theme. The gold decorative bands on the hat make the look a bit more theatrical than a separate crown.

What clothing goes under the cape of the Majesteit set?

Dark trousers with a plain shirt or a black sweater let the cape do the work, as the model in the photo is wearing. Beige or light-colored trousers give a slightly more historical look and do not clash with the burgundy. Complete the look with a toy sword, a scepter, or a pair of gloves, and you will look like a complete king. Since the set only consists of the hat and the cape, you choose the rest yourself from your own wardrobe.
