Where does the Venetian theme come from?

The Venetian theme originates from the Italian city of Venice. This is a very special city. In this city, people only know the same roads of sand or asphalt. Almost all roads are waterways. The Venetian population therefore mainly travels on foot or by boat. The name of a typical Venetian boat is a gondola. A gondola is a boat with a person on the back who works the boat forward and steers it.
From the old days, the population of Venice threw parties. These parties were attended by almost everyone in the city. What was very special about these parties was that people dressed up in what we now call Venetian clothing. A remarkable detail is that with Venetian clothing, people always wore a Venetian mask that covered their face. This way, they could party anonymously if they wanted to.
