A pieten maillot is a plain, tightly woven leg covering that runs from the toes to the waist and colours the legs of a pietenpak. The legwear completes such an outfit, and that is why it is sold separately from the complete pietenpakken. With black you choose the classic pieten look, with white a lighter version that stands out under short puff trousers.

Black or white: which pieten maillot do you choose?
Black is the safe choice with a brightly coloured pietenpak, because it keeps the attention on the collar and the hat. White works if you want the leg to stand out under short trousers, and it combines nicely with light accents in your costume. If you are unsure between a maillot and tights, let the size decide: the black women's tights are sized M to L and the white maillot continues up to XL/XXL. The sizes here are adult sizes, so you will not find a pieten maillot for a child in this part of the shop. Put on the legwear first, then the trousers will slide over it smoothly.
The maillot together with a wig and face paint
On top of the maillot, a pieten look still needs a head and face. You complete curly hair with a pieten wig, and for the colour on your cheeks you choose from the pieten face paint. If you prefer to keep it short, then a pieten hat is the part that makes it clear most quickly who you are.

From the arrival up to and including pakjesavond, the maillot is the part you wear for the longest time, indoors at a school celebration and outdoors at a parade.
